Development of the Roller Concrete Dam for Milton Brook
Title: Development of the Roller Concrete Dam for Milton Brook
Author(s): Malcom R. H. Dunstan
Publication: Concrete International
Volume: 5
Issue: 03
Date: March 1, 1983
The development of the rolled concrete dam is traced over the past 20 years, and it is suggested that a dam with a high fly ash content hearting (interior) concrete compacted by a vibratory roller and retained between horizontally slipformed facings, has a number of technical and economic advantages over other types of concrete dams. A research project is described consisting of an extensive laboratory investigation and a series of full-scale trials. It is hoped that a prototype dam, Milton Brook Dam, will be constructed at the end of the project.*
