| ABSTRACT |
|
Over the past two decades, environmental considerations and depletion of good quality original materials have encouraged the use of recycled concrete as aggregate in new concrete. This article presents major findings of a National Science Foundation (NSF) study having three main objectives. First, to present an overview of properties of concrete made with aggregates made from recycled aggregates. Second, to set a comparison between the performance of recycled-aggregate concrete made by partial replacement versus that made by total replacement. Third, to identify key factors (from an international perspective) that influence economic feasibility of using recycled-aggregate concrete.
